PinyinKeys Privacy Policy

About this policy

PinyinKeys is a standalone Mandarin pinyin and tone practice app provided by the Chivoc development team. This policy applies to PinyinKeys and related privacy enquiries. It is separate from the privacy policy for the Chivoc language-learning app, which has different features and data practices.

No data collected through the app

We do not collect personal data through PinyinKeys. The app does not require an account or sign-in and does not send your pinyin selections, practice activity, scores, or theme preferences to us or to a third-party service.

PinyinKeys does not include advertising, third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or an in-app crash-reporting service. We do not sell or share app usage data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Offline audio and device permissions

Pinyin pronunciation recordings are bundled with the app and played on your device. Core keyboard and practice features work without an internet connection; no audio package download or cloud processing is needed after installation.

PinyinKeys does not record your voice, access your microphone or camera, or read your contacts, photos, or location. It is a practice keyboard within the app, not a system-wide keyboard extension, and cannot read what you type in other apps.

Local settings and deletion

Your selected colour theme is saved in the app's private storage on your device. Current pinyin selections and practice scores are handled locally. PinyinKeys does not synchronize these settings or activities to a developer-operated cloud service.

You can change the theme in the app. Deleting the app removes its local app data according to your operating system's rules. Device or cloud backups, if enabled, are controlled by your device and backup provider and may retain copies under their own settings and policies. There is no PinyinKeys account or server-side learning history to delete.

App Store purchases and platform services

PinyinKeys is offered as a one-time paid download. It does not contain in-app purchases or subscriptions. Your app store handles payment, receipts, redownloads, and refund requests under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your payment-card details through PinyinKeys.

Apple and other operating-system or app-store providers may process purchase, installation, backup, or diagnostic information under their own policies and your device settings. This is separate from data collection implemented by PinyinKeys. TestFlight beta testing, when used, is also subject to Apple's TestFlight privacy information.

Support emails and this website

If you choose to email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you provide. We use this information to respond to your request and resolve support or privacy issues, not for advertising. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, or unnecessary personal information. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations; contact us to request its deletion.

Opening this policy in a browser or contacting us by email involves services outside the offline app. This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process technical connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and secure the page. This page does not include advertising, analytics scripts, or a sign-in form.

Children and privacy

PinyinKeys does not ask users to provide their age or personal information. Its offline, no-data-collection design applies to all users. A parent or guardian with privacy questions can contact us at [email protected]. Please avoid including personal information about a child unless it is necessary to address your request.

Policy updates and contact

We will update this page and its revision date if PinyinKeys' data practices change. Material changes will be explained through an appropriate notice, and App Store privacy disclosures will be updated when required. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
